This pub crawl takes us to an area we haven’t been to for quite a while, starting at The Cheshire Cheese, 48 Crutched Friars, EC3N 2AP – – a Stonegate pub nestled in the railway arches underneath Fenchurch Street station.

The nearest underground station is Tower Hill. Take the exit for Fenchurch Street, rather than the one for the Tower of London, and turn right when you leave the station. You’ll find the pub around 200 yards ahead of you, past The Grange City Hotel, on the left just beyond the Bavarian Beerhouse.

The plan is to move on to The Crutched Friar, 39-41 Crutched Friars, EC3N 2AE – – at about 8.30 and then the Draft House Seething, 14-15 Seething Lane, EC3N 4AX – – at around 9.30 and The Liberty Bounds, 15 Trinity Square, EC3N 4AA – – at about 10.30.

For anyone interested in the history of this area, there is a lot of information on Wetherspoon’s website – – some of it quite gory.

As ever, we may need to do things differently on the night. Another pub in the same area is The Hung, Drawn and Quartered, 26-27 Great Tower Street, EC3R 5AQ – – so we could end up in there at some point.
