52 Wilson Street, London, EC2A 2ER
This pub crawl takes us to a new area for the group, starting at The Flying Horse, 52 Wilson Street, EC2A 2ER – http://www.flyinghorsepub.co.uk – a Grade II listed traditional pub, which dates back to the early nineteenth century.
The nearest station is Moorgate, served by several underground lines and National Rail. Take the exit for Moorgate east side, turn right when you leave the station and head towards Finsbury Square, crossing over South Place and Lackington Street and passing Barclays Bank, Marks & Spencer and Gap on the way. As soon as you reach Finsbury Square (there’s a “wasabi” right on the corner but the fascia was obscured by scaffolding when I did the recce), turn right and you’ll see the pub about 150 yards ahead of you.
The plan is to move on to Finch’s, 12A Finsbury Square, EC2A 1AN – http://www.finchspub.co.uk – at around 8.45 and then the Long Arm Pub & Brewery, 20-26 Worship Street, EC2A 2DX – http://longarmpub.co.uk – at around 10.00. The Long Arm should be open until midnight, but the nearby Singer Tavern, 1 City Road, EC1Y 1AG – http://singertavern.com – is open until 1am and might appeal to those who want to stay out a bit later.
