The Crosse Keys, 9 Gracechurch St., EC3V 0DR – https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/london/the-crosse-keys-city-of-london – is one of Wetherspoon’s rather grand bank conversions. This one was once the London headquarters of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.

“The World’s Biggest Real-Ale and Cider Festival” features a selection of reasonably priced Real Ales from 25 UK and 5 International Brewers as well as 3 Ciders, so there should be something to suit most tastes. I haven’t checked but you can usually sample any three of the Festival ales in third-of-a-pint glasses, for the same price as a pint.

The Crosse Keys is just a few minutes walk from Monument underground station, which is at the bottom end of Gracechurch St. One other option is Bank (Central & Northern lines and DLR). Take exit 6, walk straight down Lombard St. and turn left when you reach Gracechurch St., which is the last major road before you get to the “Walkie-Talkie”.

We’ll be meeting at The Marquis Cornwallis, 31 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AP – https://www.themarquiscornwalliswc1.co.uk . The nearest underground station is Russell Square. Marchmont Street is almost opposite the exit and the pub is about 150 yards walk from the station on the corner of Coram Street.

The plan is to move on to The Lord John Russell, 91-93 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AL – https://whatpub.com/pubs/NLD/6298/lord-john-russell-london – at around 8.45 and then Mabel’s Tavern, 9 Mabledon Place, WC1H 9AZ – http://www.mabelstavern.co.uk – at around 10.00, but there’s no rush as Mabel’s Tavern is open until midnight.

There are several options which may or may not suit those who want to stay out a bit later, including O’Neills, 73-77 Euston Road, NW1 2QS – https://www.oneills.co.uk/national-search/london/kings-cross – and The Rocket, 120 Euston Road, NW1 2AL – https://www.therocketeustonroad.co.uk/
