27 Clennam Street, London, SE1 1ER
This pub crawl takes us to a new area for the group, starting at The Lord Clyde, 27 Clennam Street, SE1 1ER – http://www.lordclyde.com – a Grade II listed pub originally dating from 1863, but re-built in 1913, and run by the same family since 1956.
The Lord Clyde is just a few minutes walk from Borough underground station – turn left as you leave the station and follow the curve of the building into Marshalsea Road (I couldn’t see a street sign when I did the recce, but look for “Joes Kitchen” straight ahead of you).
After about 150 yards cross over the road as if you were heading for “Gossip” – a white building with the number 20 prominently displayed.
Carry on walking down Marshalsea Road for another 100 yards or so, then turn right into Ayres Street and you’ll see the pub right in front of you.
The plan is to move on to The King’s Arms, 65 Newcomen Street, SE1 1YT – https://www.kingsarmsborough.co.uk – another Grade II listed pub, at around 8.45 and then The (Wheat)Sheaf, 24 Southwark Street, SE1 1TY – http://sheaf.london – located in the vaults of the old Hop Exchange, at around 10.00 (not to be confused with The Wheatsheaf in Stoney Street just around the corner).
The Sheaf is open until midnight and that’ll be the last stop for the event, but there are various options nearby for those that want to stay out later.
