Kensington Pub Crawl

Saturday, October 1, 2016 – 7:30 PM

The Elephant & Castle

40 Holland Street, London, W8 4LT

We’ll be meeting at The Elephant & Castle, 40 Holland Street, W8 4LT – The nearest underground station is High Street Kensington. Turn left when you leave the station and then cross over Kensington High Street as if you were heading for Lloyds Bank. Walk up Hornton Street, past the Library and the Town Hall, until you reach Holland Street. Turn right and you’ll find the pub on the left hand side of the street where it meets Gordon Place.

The plan is to move on to the Prince of Wales, 8 Kensington Church Street, W8 4EP – – at around 8.45 and then The Greyhound, 1 Kensington Square, W8 5EP  – – at around 10.00.

Please note that the main picture for the Prince of Wales on the Taylor Walker web site is not the Prince of Wales in Kensington. It’s actually a photo of the Prince of Wales in Wimbledon.

Historic Aldgate featuring the Beer Festival at The Dispensary

Saturday, September 17, 2016 – 7:30 PM

Hoop & Grapes

47 Aldgate High St., London, EC3N 1AL

This is another new area for the group. We’ll be meeting at the Hoop & Grapes – – one of the few timber-framed buildings to have survived The Great Fire of London in 1666, which apparently missed the pub by just 50 yards.

The nearest underground station is Aldgate. Cross over the road as soon as you leave the station, turn left and you’ll find the Hoop & Grapes about 100 yards along Aldgate High Street as you walk away from the City.

The plan is to move on to The Dispensary, 19a Leman Street, E1 8EN – – at around 8.45. The Dispensary is not usually open at the weekend, but on this particular Saturday it will be hosting it’s “Our Favourite Beer Festival” event.

If you’re heading straight for The Dispensary, the nearest underground station is Aldgate East. Take Exit 1, turn right when you reach street level and you’ll find the pub on the left-hand side of Leman Street, about 150 yards away from the station.

If the beer festival meets expectations we might well want to stay there for the rest of the evening, but there are several other pubs nearby so we can play it by ear on the night.
